About the Founders

Advanced Hospital Solutions (AHS) brings together years of industry knowledge, specialist engineering skills and technical experience to offer a unique all-encompassing approach to project consultancy and equipment supply within theatre environments. Taking a look behind the scenes and unearthing some interesting industry insights, HEJ’s editor, Jonathan Baillie discusses the future with AHS’ managing director, Nick Jackson and the company’s operations director, Russell Skea.

Both Nick and Russell have been working within the healthcare sector for over 25 years and their experience extends from physical infrastructure integration, design and build and consultancy through to engineering, technical solutions and service solutions.

Working together on a multitude of high profile projects over the years, the formidable duo were integral to the introduction of the OR1 integrated theatre to the marketplace, the masterminds behind the development of a new mobile endoscopic decontamination unit and the innovators of a bold, new, inclusive market approach for healthcare providers.

Starting his working life off as an electrical and electronics engineer in the Royal Air Force, Nick’s natural commercial flair and interest in the medical sector, saw him advance his career amidst operating theatres, surgical equipment/decontamination and clinical infrastructures from both a sales and service perspective.

When speaking to Nick about his professional highlights, his passion for the industry is almost infectious. It is clear to see that it is his sound business mind, instant likeability and effortless client engagement that has earned him the reputation of being one of the most trusted specialists in the field.

No doubt trusted most by his partner in crime Russell, who too presents an imposing history within the medical sector. Not to be fooled by Russell’s rugged exterior, the mind behind the stubble is truly remarkable.

A degree in integrated engineering and management, Russell has played critical roles in specifying, designing and delivering infrastructure solutions for all medical disciplines including ICU, HDU, PICU and A&E.

What was interesting to see was the charming dynamic between Nick and Russell. Throughout our discussion I learned that they not only complement one another on a professional level but are also the very best of friends.
